US President-elect Donald Trump said he will nominate billionaire and space tourist Jared Isaacman to serve as administrator of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The politician wrote this on his social network Truth Social.
“I am pleased to nominate Jared Isaacman, a distinguished business leader, philanthropist, pilot and astronaut, to serve as NASA Administrator,” Trump said.
Billionaire Jared Isaacman heads a payment processing company and is also the co-founder of Draken International, a private company that reportedly hired retired military pilots to train Ukrainian F-16 pilots .
NASA is currently headed by Bill Nelson.
Recall that in September, 41-year-old Isaacman took part in the first commercial space mission, Polaris Dawn. During his flight as captain of Crew Dragon, he and engineer Sarah Gillies completed the first spacewalk by non-professional astronauts.
