The price of Bitcoin (bitcoin) for the first time in history exceeded 100 thousand dollars. The price of Bitcoin is being pushed up by expectations that Donald Trump will pursue a policy favorable to cryptocurrency as President of the United States.
Bitcoin set a new record a few hours after Donald Trump announced that he intends to appoint current member Paul Atkins as head of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Atkins is believed to be much more favorable towards cryptocurrencies than current SEC head Gary Gensler.
Donald Trump’s victory in the elections gave a strong impetus to the cryptocurrency market, the volume of which experts now estimate at 3.3 trillion.
Trump promised to make the United States the “crypto capital of the world.” However, only three years ago he called Bitcoin a fraudulent scam.
The change in Trump’s rhetoric has caused Bitcoin to rise in price by 40% in the month since he won the presidential election, and more than doubled earlier this year.
