The Netherlands plans to transfer around 30,000 used Dutch military uniforms to Ukraine. The Dutch Ministry of Defense announced this on Wednesday, December 4.
It was mentioned that the military in the Netherlands has already switched to a new uniform, and the old one will be prepared for transfer to Ukraine. The uniform production company (KPU-bedrijf) and prisoners from the Almelo correctional facility will check, repair and prepare the uniforms for shipment to Ukraine.
“The goal is to eventually donate around 30,000 uniforms for reuse in the conflict zone,” it said.
The mold manufacturing company (KPU-bedrijf) has already delivered the first 76 boxes to Almelo. Following instructions from company employees, prisoners from the correctional facility joined the work in special rooms containing tens of thousands of uniforms. They will check, inspect, sort, wash and prepare the uniform for use in Ukraine.
On Wednesday it was also reported that the Netherlands is allocating an additional 22 million euros for projects aimed at air defense and cyber resilience in Ukraine.
