The French government was dismissed – the French parliament passed a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier.
331 members of the National Assembly voted for the resignation of the current government. For the corresponding decision it was necessary to collect 289 votes. This was reported by Le Figaro.
Prime Minister Barnier, speaking before parliament, stressed that the reality of public finances will not disappear through the “magic of a vote of no confidence.”
This is the reality. I tried to fight it by presenting complex financial texts. I would prefer to give away money, although we don’t have any. But this reality remains, it will not disappear by magic,” the official noted.
This is the first time there has been a vote of no confidence in the government since 1962.
As you know, Michel Barnier served as Prime Minister for only three months. His tenure was initially determined by the results of early summer parliamentary elections.
President Emmanuel Macron promised to resolve the issue of appointing a new prime minister within 24 hours.
Let us remind you that the media reported that the resignation of the government in France could complicate the adoption of important laws. In particular, this concerns the budget for 2025.
