The Verkhovna Rada appointed Alexey Chernyshev to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of National Unity of Ukraine.
The corresponding decision was made by parliament on Tuesday, December 3. 237 people’s deputies voted in favor. People’s Deputy from “Voice” Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on Telegram.
Now the question is how the regulations and budget for this will be approved. So far, only UAH 150 million has been allocated for the unification agency (it is under the Ministry of Economy), he noted.
According to the people’s deputy from European Solidarity, Alexei Goncharenko, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal came to the Rada to represent Chernyshev’s candidacy.
Chernyshev himself also spoke before the Rada, and then answered questions from deputies regarding the creation of the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine.
As you know, since November 2022, Alexey Chernyshev has been heading the Naftogaz of Ukraine company. Before that, he was the Minister of Development of Communities and Territories, and even earlier he headed the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
Let us recall that on November 19, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky presented an internal plan for the sustainability of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada. He stated that the Ministry of Unification of Ukraine would be created and a candidate for minister would be presented by the end of the year.
The new ministry should ensure the unity of Ukrainian citizens abroad, help provide consular services and facilitate the return of people.
