In Tbilisi, on the night of December 2, security forces began violently dispersing a protest rally near the parliament building. This was reported by the Echo of the Caucasus.
Protesters are currently being pushed away from the square in front of parliament. Georgia police use water cannons against people.
In response, protesters defend themselves with pyrotechnics. Under pressure from security forces, the protesters moved away from the parliament building. They split into groups and moved to the streets adjacent to Rustaveli Avenue.
It should be noted that opposition activists protested for the fifth consecutive day against the decision to freeze the country’s accession negotiations to the EU.
As is known, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze said that Georgia refused the accession negotiations with the EU until 2028. After that, on the night of November 28 in Tbilisi, Georgian citizens came out to protest en masse against the government actions. Security forces are now trying to disperse the protesters using water cannons.
Let’s add that the press secretary of the head of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said that the events in Georgia are reminiscent of what “happened on the Maidan in Kyiv in 2013,” noting that Moscow “does not interfere in any way” in these processes.
