Rumors that Georgian soldiers currently defending Ukraine may join the protests are false.
The information that Georgian volunteers fighting in Ukraine may return to Georgia is a provocation. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said this, Radio Tavisupleba reports.
He called for support for the protesters and to protect them from provocations. Zurabishvili noted that representatives of the country’s State Security Service may be among the protesters.
Zurabishvili also noted that rumors that military personnel currently defending Ukraine may join the protests are false.
“This is also a provocation directed against this protest,” said the head of state.
Earlier, the military committee of the Caucasian Union announced that some volunteers, who are now fighting in Ukraine on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, are ready to return to Georgia.
We remind you that the Georgian opposition refuses to recognize the results of the parliamentary elections. Zurabishvili did not recognize the election and called for protests.
