Hackers send malicious emails to government agencies

Letters with malicious files were allegedly sent from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. The UAC-0056 group is suspected to be involved in the cyberattack.

Ukraine’s state organizations have undergone another cyber attack by distributing emails. This was reported by the CETR-UA rapid response team for computer incidents, which operates under the State Special Communications Service.

We are talking about the distribution of new dangerous e-mails, in the subject line in which it is indicated: “Office of the expert prosecutor in the field of military and defense. Information about the availability of vacancies and their personnel. “

Noted that the letters have attachments in the form of an XLS document containing a macro, its activation will lead to the creation and launch of the “write.exe” file on the computer.

As a result, the device will be infected with Cobalt Strike Beacon malware;

This activity is associated with the activities of the group UAC-0056, which was already involved in cyber attacks in Ukraine in April and March.

Earlier, the State Special Communications Service said the world’s first cyberwar was taking place in Ukraine. The targets of Russian hackers in Ukraine are critical infrastructure facilities.
