British, American and Dutch paratroopers will train at a new center in northern Norway.
An airborne operations center has been opened in Norway, which will train military personnel. It appeared as part of a NATO country’s next step to strengthen its border operations with the Russian Federation in the Arctic, Newsweek reported on Saturday, November 30.
It was mentioned that the center was created in Serreys in the north of the country. It will provide amphibious training for British, American and Dutch personnel.
Norway has no airborne troops of its own, but some of its main army and special forces units are based in the region.
“We must train together to protect Norway, the Nordic region and NATO in the event of crisis and war,” the head of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense said after visiting the facility.
In total, Norway has increased investment in military installations since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, spending about $1.44 billion on bases in the Troms region alone.
Earlier it was reported that Norway increased aid to Ukraine to $3.2 billion.
