Law enforcement officials detained a Russian agent in the Dnipropetrovsk region, examining the positions of the air defense system in the south and east of Ukraine. This was reported by the SBU on Thursday, July 7.
“The military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine will neutralize the aggressor’s attempt to locate the air defense systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the southern and eastern fronts,” the report said.
According to the SBU, the Russian agent checked the positions of the Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system. He had to transfer the received coordinates to his “curator” through closed communication -enabled channels.
According to one version, the occupiers planned to use this data for missile strikes or sabotage to neutralize Ukraine’s air defense.
The SBU recalled that the other day the air defense system in the Dnipropetrovsk region fired six of the seven missiles in which the invaders tried to overthrow the region.
SBU investigators informed him of the suspicion under the articles on treason and illegal possession of weapons (part 2 of article 111, article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The attacker was given a measure of detention in the form of detention.
