The Ukrainian side understands the importance of protecting Poland in its own airspace, therefore it is in talks with NATO allies aiming to support the protection of Polish skies and the eastern borders of the alliance.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Georgiy Tikhy said that Ukraine hopes to have a positive movement on the issue of consultations with NATO to strengthen the skies of Poland with the possible subsequent transfer of Polish MiG-29 to Ukraine . It was reported by Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday, November 28th.
According to Tikhy, the consultations are currently ongoing.
“Actually, this is an issue on which the Polish side and I have a common point of view. transferred to Ukraine,” he said.
The spokesperson assured that the issue is on the agenda, but it is too early to discuss details.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, during negotiations with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, raised the issue of transferring Polish MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine.
“The minister noted that the Ukrainian side understands the importance of protecting Poland in its own airspace. Therefore, Ukraine is in talks with NATO allies aiming to support the protection of Polish skies and the eastern borders of the alliance ,” said the press service.
Let’s recall that the previous President Vladimir Zelensky said that Poland did not transfer the MiG-29 to Ukraine, despite a preliminary agreement.
