Prime Minister Denis Shmygal called it a precedent for holding Russia accountable for its crimes.
The European Union and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding to provide macro-financial assistance worth €18.1 billion using Russian fixed assets. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis.
The Ukrainian prime minister noted that the €18.1 billion in question is part of a $50 billion G7 package backed by proceeds from Russian fixed assets.
“Such a step is not only support, but also a precedent for holding Russia accountable for its crimes and the beginning of the process of making the aggressor pay for its brutal war,” the official added.
Let us recall that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, congratulated the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the approval of her proposed composition of the EC and expressed confidence that during the work of this composition of the European Commission, the Ukraine will become a member of the European Union.
