The court found Tsarev guilty under Part 3 of Art. 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (financing of actions committed with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine), the SBU notes.
The court sentenced Tsarev to eight years in prison, and also confiscated all his property with a total value of 460.6 million UAH. The following was seized from the income of Ukraine:

- a plot of land in the Kyiv region, which is estimated at UAH 1.3 million.
The Office of the Prosecutor General notes that:
- Tsarev owned real estate and a number of enterprises in Crimea. After the annexation of the peninsula, it registered them under Russian law and hired the military National Guard to provide security measures;
- facts of money transfers for the protection of his museum-estate and sanatorium in the city of Yalta were established. They were transferred to the accounts of the “federal state unitary enterprise “Security” of the federal service of the National Guard troops of the Russian Federation.”
