The defect in the mines that hit the Ukrainian Armed Forces units was identified due to changes in weather conditions.
This was stated today, November 27, on Radio Liberty by MP from the Servant of the People Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.
The defect was discovered due to the fact that the air temperature decreased and the humidity increased. That is, this became the trigger that made it possible to find out that there were certain problems,” he said.
Venislavsky assured that this marriage is not critical for the security and defense sector:
Although, of course, any abnormal operations have quite far-sighted consequences. Therefore, this is being clarified, and I think in the future, the Ministry of Strategic Industries and Military Acceptance will work in such a way as to prevent such defects.
Although it should be understood that any type of ammunition and military equipment undergo military acceptance. Therefore, there is a complex reason here: why the military acceptance did not detect a problem with mines. This will already be sorted out by law enforcement agencies,” he added.
According to Venislavsky, the entire batch of defective mines that ended up in different units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already been returned to the manufacturers’ warehouses. Now they must produce new ammunition at their own expense, which will undergo stricter control.
The manufacturing company, at its own expense, eliminates all problems and supplies, instead of those mines that have such defects, a completely new batch of mines,” he noted. — They will undergo more stringent control – this particular batch and from this manufacturer in order to avoid any problems in the future.
Deputy from the Golos party Roman Kostenko, also a member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, believes that the defective mines that reached the front are the responsibility of the military acceptance department working within the Ministry of Defense. According to the deputy, it is this unit that should bear responsibility.
They must control this at all stages, and now they need to figure out how good this control was, which missed such a batch that was malfunctioning,” he emphasized.
Let us remind you that recently messages appeared on social networks about the low quality of mines received by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Thus, people’s deputy Alexey Goncharenko published a video in his Telegram channel showing how a mine, not having time to fly out of a mortar, falls not far from the shot.
The Ministry of Defense stated that they had already begun to investigate the reasons for the supply of defective mines to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
