Bullying case reported by Hanni, from NewJeans, won the position of the agency responsible for managing the idol’s career, ADOR; read!
The 14-day deadline given for ADOR to rectify all significant violations of NewJeans’ exclusive contracts established in the content certification sent by the group on November 13 comes to an end on Thursday, 28. As a result, this Wednesday, 27, the agency responded to one of the demands one day before the response deadline, by taking a position on the case of bullying by BELIFT LAB against Hannifrom NewJeans.
It is worth remembering that, in September this year, the members of NewJeans held a live broadcast in which, among the topics, Hanni revealed that the businessman of another group in the HYBE conglomerate told the group he managed to ignore Hanni when the singers met at the company’s headquarters.
The official statement was shared by the Soompi portal, read the translation:
This statement is in response to the actions required by artists’ content certification.
Hello, this is ADOR.
On October 7, 2024, BELIFT LAB released a statement regarding its manager’s dismissive comments. ADOR has maintained a cautious stance to avoid unnecessary controversies involving our artists. However, despite our efforts, the related controversy has not abated, so we are clarifying ADOR’s position.
BELIFT LAB’s allegations are completely different from NewJeans member Hanni’s testimony. Hanni clearly remembers that on May 27, 2024, a member of BELIFT LAB made comments involving her, such as ‘Ignore her’ or ‘Just ignore and pass by’. It is irrational and harsh to expect the victim to remember every detail of the incident, which occurred in a relatively short time, to consider this issue a problem. ADOR and its members fully trust our artist’s words and genuinely regret the harm Hanni suffered.
We hope that BELIFT LAB does not take Hanni’s suffering lightly and demonstrates mutual respect, and we expect a sincere attitude from BELIFT LAB in this matter to ensure that unnecessary controversies involving ADOR artists do not continue.”
Bullying?
On October 15, the state audit of the Environment and Labor Committee of the South Korean National Assembly took place to discuss issues related to bullying in the workplace, which included Hannia member of NewJeans, as one of the witnesses.
The artist, who was invited to participate in the audition at the beginning of the month, gave her version of the incidents that have been happening behind the scenes at HYBE, including the case in which a manager from another group instructed the artists to ignore her.
In his statement, Hanni pointed out that he decided to attend the audit so that other colleagues in the industry, including veterans and juniors, do not have to go through situations similar to theirs.
“I don’t understand why I have to go through this and why this person would say something like that in a work environment,” said the singer (via Koreaboo). “This has happened more than once or twice, and if I continue to remain silent, this will pass and be buried. This can happen to anyone. I decided to participate, hoping that current interns, seniors, juniors or colleagues do not experience this.”
The case remains ongoing.
