The Pentagon has reached its monthly limit for arms shipments to Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal notes.
US President Joe Biden may not have time to give Ukraine the promised multi-billion dollar aid. He is running out of time before Donald Trump’s inauguration. The Wall Street Journal writes about it on Wednesday, November 27.
The Pentagon has reached the monthly limit for sending weapons to Ukraine and now faces logistical problems in delivering weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Despite this, the White House promised two weeks ago that it would send the full amount before the end of Biden’s term, but has now begun to retract its statements and insist on mobilizing manpower.
The Biden administration is running behind billions of dollars appropriated by lawmakers for Ukrainian arms. US and Congressional officials left it up to the newly elected president to decide what to do with the rest of the money.
US officials say the administration still has more than $6.5 billion left in so-called “reduction authority,” which allows the Pentagon to move weapons and equipment from its own stockpiles to Ukraine. Part of these funds will depend on Trump’s decisions, the WSJ wrote.
We remind you that Biden called on Congress to allocate an additional $24 billion to bolster military support for Ukraine.
According to media reports, the United States believes that Ukraine should lower the age of mobilization to 18 years.
