Current US President Joe Biden called on Congress to allocate an additional $24 billion to Ukraine.
The White House Office of Management and Budget has suggested that Congress could include the aid in the package to avoid the risk of support being withdrawn when there is a change in presidential administration. This was reported by the New York Post and Politico.Pro with reference to documentation.
Biden’s proposal assumes that out of the amount of $24 billion. 8 billion dollars will go to the initiative to provide security assistance to Ukraine, in particular to finance contracts of American companies for the supply of weapons to our country. The remaining 16 billion dollars. should go to replenish US weapons stocks.
Some Republicans have already criticized Biden’s idea. In particular, Utah Senator Mike Lee was outraged that providing Ukraine with additional weapons would sabotage further efforts by newly elected President Donald Trump to end the war.
Joe Biden just gave away $4.7 billion. taxpayers, unilaterally “forgiving” loans to Ukraine. Congress should not give him a free gift to further sabotage President Trump’s peace talks on his way out the door. Any demands from Biden for funding must be rejected,” he wrote on social media.
Let us remind you that the media reported that the United States is preparing to provide Ukraine with a new aid package worth at least $275 million. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will transfer, in particular, air defense equipment, missiles for HIMARS systems, artillery ammunition of 155 mm and 105 mm caliber, Javelin systems and other equipment. All these weapons and ammunition will be taken for shipment from US Department of Defense trains.
