Since the start of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine, the Russians have been deporting Ukrainian children en masse. They were taken to Belarus, the Russian Federation, and some to occupied Crimea.
Two girls, aged 6 and 14, were rescued from territories temporarily occupied by Russia. This was said on Tuesday, November 26, in the Telegram of the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
“Today, two more Ukrainian girls returned home from the temporarily occupied territories as part of the initiative of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA,” said Ermak.
As the head of the OP said, 6-year-old Maria lived with her grandparents in the Donetsk region. After the death of her grandmother, the girl stayed only with her grandfather. He fears that the occupation authorities will take his grandson from him and understands that the only salvation for the child is to evacuate to a safe territory.
Now Maria is safe with her mother and younger brother.
Veronica ended up in a foster family in the Kherson region. However, after the Russian occupation in 2022 of the village where she lived, the girl’s life changed. Veronica was always under stress and fear, which negatively affected her health. And due to the lack of stable connection and electricity, the girl was unable to study.
“Now Veronica is home,” said the head of the Office of the President.
The head of the OP published pictures of the rescued children.
