The restrictive measures include an asset freeze and travel ban on more than 50 individuals and around 30 legal entities.
The European Union is preparing a new sanctions package aimed at Chinese and Russian companies linked to the development and supply of attack drones used in the war against Ukraine. Bloomberg reported this.
It noted that the measures include an asset freeze and travel ban on more than 50 individuals and about 30 legal entities. They include a Chinese company that violated EU trade restrictions, a Hong Kong company that supplied Russia with banned microelectronic components, and North Korean officials who support Moscow’s military actions.
The European Commission also proposed limiting access to ports and services for 45 Russian oil tankers to increase pressure on Moscow’s revenues. The list also includes companies that provide key components for attack drones.
The foreign ministers of the G7 countries, discussing the measures in Italy against the countries supporting Russia, expressed their readiness to support the EU initiative. However, the new sanctions package must receive the approval of all 27 member countries of the Union.
In the past, the United States and Great Britain have imposed sanctions against several Chinese companies linked to the supply of prohibited technologies to the Russian army. The new EU sanctions package will be the 15th since the start of Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine.
We remind you that the US Congress is planning to punish Hong Kong’s banking sector for helping to evade anti-Russian sanctions. The congressmen called on the Treasury Department to reconsider the close banking relationship between Hong Kong and the United States.
