In the process of restoring peace in Ukraine, European countries will play an important role, Trump’s adviser believes.
President-elect Donald Trump’s future adviser Michael Volz says the war in Ukraine reminds him of World War I and it must be stopped. He said this on Sunday, November 24, in an interview with Fox News Sunday.
“It was an absolute slaughter of men and equipment on this front. It was more like trench warfare in the First World War,” he said.
Volz emphasized that Trump is “incredibly concerned about the conflict and where it’s leading.”
“President Trump is concerned about the carnage that’s going on there and how we restore restraint and how we bring peace. We need to bring this to a responsible end. We need to restore restraint, peace and pre-empt escalation rather than react to it, ” said Trump’s national security adviser.
Volz added that the Trump team will work on the issue of peace negotiations with the current Biden administration and will do so immediately after Trump becomes president.
“President Trump has clearly said that we need to talk about who is going to be at the table, whether there is going to be an agreement, a truce, how to bring both sides to the table, and then what the scope of the agreement is going to be. That’s what we’re going to do with this administration before January, and then beyond,” Volz said.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said President-elect Donald Trump wants to reach an agreement with Ukraine that would allow the United States to enrich itself with rare Ukrainian minerals.
Earlier, the media reported that Trump was interested in two points from the Victory Plan – replacing part of the American troops stationed in Europe with Ukrainian troops and the point on Ukraine’s mineral resources. It was noted that the second point was proposed by Graham, who suggested sharing Ukraine’s critical natural resources with the West.
