The Russian Federation is recruiting hundreds of Yemeni Houthis for the war against Ukraine.
Recruits from Yemen who traveled to Russia were promised well-paid jobs and even Russian citizenship. When they arrived in the Russian Federation, they were forcibly conscripted into the Russian army and sent to the front line in Ukraine. This was reported by the Financial Times with reference to Yemeni men.
The contracts identified a company founded by prominent Houthi politician Abdulwali Abdo Hassan al-Jabri. Registration documents identify the company as a tour operator and retail supplier of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
FT writes that the Russians began recruiting the Houthis back in the summer. One of the contracts was dated July 3 and was signed by the head of the contract selection center in Nizhny Novgorod.
One of the recruited mercenaries said he was part of a group of about 200 Yemenis conscripted into the Russian army in September. The man admitted that the Russians promised him a lucrative job in the field of “security” and “engineering.” However, he was sent to the front line, but he and four mercenaries escaped and disappeared into the forest. One of the Houthis attempted suicide and was taken to hospital.
Let us remind you that Ukrainian partisans found out that at the Cossack training ground in the Gagarinsky district of Sevastopol, the Russian military is training mercenaries from Cuba and African countries.
