An important decision for the Ukrainian armed forces was made too late, the Republican leader of the Senate said.
The Republican leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, officially confirmed that the administration of US President Joe Biden has lifted restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range ATACMS missiles. According to him, this will allow the Ukrainian military to use ATACMS “as they see fit.” He spoke about it on Tuesday, November 19, at a meeting with journalists, Ukrinform wrote.
“Finally, finally, the Biden administration did what the Speaker and I told them to do six months ago,” McConnell said.
The politician emphasized that Ukrainian forces can now use ATACMS to achieve their strategic goals to ensure victory in the war. At the same time, he criticized the US administration for making an important decision too late.
“Too slow if you really want to help Ukraine win,” he said.
McConnell added that he “suspects” that the current ban on the use of ATACMS has been “lifted off the shoulders” of the Ukrainians.
Note that the new leader of the Republican majority in the US Senate in November will be Senator from South Dakota John Thune, who advocates support for Ukraine.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, after Ukraine’s first attacks with ATACMS missiles on Russia, called for a “stop of escalation” and cited the need to resolve the “conflict.”
