German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed media information about the intention to transfer to Ukraine a batch of 4,000 drones equipped with artificial intelligence that can effectively hit targets at a considerable distance.
According to the German minister, these drones can “to a certain extent overcome the enemy’s electronic warfare system and fly around it.”
They are capable of operating at a distance of 30 or 40 km inland and then attack command posts, logistics hubs and other targets, Pistorius added.
The media previously reported that Germany will soon begin a massive supply of kamikaze drones to Ukraine, which have high autonomy under the influence of electronic warfare and can very effectively hit targets at a considerable distance. In the industry, these drones are compared to Taurus missiles.
Bild wrote that we are talking about attack drones from Helsing, equipped with artificial intelligence technologies that give them greater autonomy in the presence of hostile electronic warfare systems. In total, the company allegedly ordered 4,000 such drones for Ukraine. From December they can begin to arrive in batches of several hundred per month.
Some UAV prototypes are already being tested and improved in real combat conditions in eastern Ukraine.
A special feature of the drone is its modern software, which helps it “orient” on the terrain using many markers and fly to the target even in difficult weather conditions or “scorched earth”, as well as the influence of electronic warfare equipment. Once the drone has identified the target and the operator has confirmed it, it is then able to carry out the kill autonomously, even if communication is lost.
