“We are diversifying our gas supplies from Russia to reliable and dependable suppliers. And our efforts are already producing good results,” he said.
Thus, since March, global imports of LNG from various countries, excluding Russia, have grown by 75% compared to 2021. LNG imports from the US to the EU have almost tripled.
Von der Leyen added that the average monthly import of gas through pipelines from Russia dropped by 33% compared to last year.
“That is, we are progressing as we wish,” the EC President stated.
Earlier it was reported that within two weeks the European Commission will present an emergency action plan in case of a complete cessation of gas supplies from the Russian Federation. Its purpose is to provide gas to the most vulnerable countries and parts of the population.
