Ukrainian defenders were able to destroy the Russian cruise missile using a machine gun.
On Sunday, November 17, in the Vinnytsia region, national guardsmen shot down a cruise missile from a Browning heavy machine gun. This happened during today’s combined mass attack by the Russians. Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko announced this on Telegram.
It is noted that the shot down rocket changed its trajectory and fell into a field. Detonation did not occur.
As is known, the American-made Browning M2 heavy machine gun is effective against infantry, unarmored and lightly armored vehicles, fortifications, as well as helicopters at low altitudes. The effective firing range for this type of weapon is up to 2 thousand m.
Let us recall that on the morning of November 17, the Russian Federation launched a massive combined missile strike on Ukraine. The enemy fired 120 missiles and 90 drones. Air defense forces destroyed 144 targets.
In particular, one of the enemy cruise missiles was destroyed by a Ukrainian female soldier using the Igla MANPADS. Natalya Grabarchuk, who in civilian life was a teacher at a preschool educational institution, today made her first combat launch from Igla and successfully hit.
