Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau supported the conversation between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Vladimir Putin and said that the war in Ukraine could end in the coming months.
He also added that Canada remains committed to the victory of Ukraine and wants to see the end of the conflict as soon as possible.
Bloomberg quotes Trudeau as saying:
There may be windows in which the end of the conflict could take place in the coming months. We all understand how important it is to end the violence in Ukraine, to end conflicts around the world.
In his opinion, to end the fighting, Ukraine needs to maintain support from the United States after Donald Trump returns to power.
Let’s be very clear: all the allies in the world cannot replace a complete US withdrawal from support for Ukraine, Trudeau added.
On November 15, during a conversation with Putin, Scholz condemned Russia’s war against Ukraine and called for the withdrawal of troops.
The Chancellor also discussed Russia’s readiness for negotiations and noted that Germany will support Ukraine “as long as necessary.” Berlin also noted that Scholz had spoken with Zelensky in advance.
