JATEC was created as part of the implementation of the NATO Washington Summit. It will be the first joint institution between Ukraine and NATO.
“The center will help Ukraine to be included in the structures of the Alliance, will facilitate the exchange of experience between the parties and the search for solutions to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine and NATO,” said Klochko.
The meeting participants discussed the implementation of the steps necessary to create the Center and confirmed the intention to start its work at the beginning of 2025.
Among such activities is the coordination of the necessary legal procedures, in particular, ensuring the participation of Ukraine in the processes of management and decision-making in the structure of the Center.
From the side of the Alliance, the event was attended by NATO Assistant Secretary General Thomas Goffus, NATO Commander-in-Chief for Transformation Admiral Pierre Vandier, General Manager of the NATO Information and Communications Agency Ludwig Descamps and NATO Senior Representative in Ukraine Patrick Turner.
They also discussed the creation of an information and communication system that would allow for the organization of communication and secure data exchange between Ukraine and NATO. Ukraine will be the first partner country where the Alliance will create such a secure system.
The parties agreed on a list of first urgent projects, including the development in which the Center will begin its activities.
We previously reported that Poland hosted the first high-level meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC), the first joint NATO-Ukraine institution to strengthen defense capabilities and accelerate entering the Alliance.
We remind you that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed the irreversible movement of Ukraine towards NATO membership and noted the importance of introducing appropriate reforms in the country.
