The Polish Foreign Ministry has announced its intention to reopen the embassy in North Korea, which has been closed since 2020 after strict coronavirus restrictions were imposed there. This was announced by the Polish Foreign Ministry on Friday, November 15.
The Polish delegation, which was in Pyongyang on November 11-16, talked with representatives of the DPRK about the continuation of the embassy’s work.
“Currently, the Polish Embassy in Pyongyang continues to work in temporary office space and has a limited staff, headed by a career diplomat and a Foreign Ministry employee as charge d’affaires,” the department announced.
The Polish Embassy in Pyongyang was evacuated in December 2020 after the DPRK authorities announced the complete closure of the state border due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which made the work of the diplomatic mission impossible.
Today, the only Western country with an active embassy in North Korea is Sweden. He resumed the work of the diplomatic mission in September.
