German Chancellor Olaf Scholz today, November 15, had a telephone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
This was reported by the press service of the German government.
Scholz during the conversation condemned the Russian war against Ukraine and called on Putin to withdraw his troops.
Scholz also called on the Russian Federation to negotiate with Ukraine in order to achieve a “just and lasting peace” and emphasized Germany’s unwavering determination to support Ukraine in the peace process and in defending against Russian aggression for as long as necessary.
It is noted that Scholz spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky the day before.
Zelensky, in his evening video message, called Putin’s call a “Pandora’s box”:
Chancellor Scholz told me that he was going to call Putin. Olaf’s Call, in my opinion, is Pandora’s Box. Now there may be other conversations, other calls. Just a lot of words. And this is exactly what Putin has long wanted – it is extremely important for him to weaken his isolation. Isolation of Russia.
According to Zelensky, Putin’s goal is to conduct negotiations that do not end in anything.
Just as he has done for decades. This made it possible for Russia not to change anything in its policy, to do nothing in essence, and this is precisely what led to this war, he emphasized.
We understand all these challenges now. We know how to act and want to warn: there will be no Minsk-3, we need real peace,” Zelensky added.
