All US citizens are advised to carefully monitor US government communications as the situation may change.
The US State Department has lowered the risk level for nine Ukrainian regions. This was stated on Thursday, November 15, in a statement from the Department of State containing recommendations for travelers.
The American department notes that some regions in Ukraine may have a lower level of risk due to air defense and distance from active combat zones.
In particular, from the fourth (do not travel) to the third level (think about your travel) risk, the State Department has reduced the following regions of Ukraine: Volyn, Lviv, Transcarpathian, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Rivne, Khmelnitsky and Zhytomyr.
However, the State Department statement added that all US citizens should closely monitor communications from the US government, local and international media for information about changes in security conditions and warning to seek shelter in place.
“The security situation in Ukraine remains unpredictable. Russia’s all-out aggression against Ukraine continues, and even non-front-line regions remain targets of Russian missile and drone attacks,” the Department warned of the State.
The Pentagon is determined to ensure that the remaining $7.1 billion in military aid from previously approved funding by Congress is sent to Ukraine through the end of the current administration of President Joe Biden. For this purpose, shipments will be made weekly.
US policy regarding long-term strikes deep into Russia has not changed. The administration remains committed to limiting Ukraine’s use of weapons.
