The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Ukraine does not possess, is not developing and does not seek to acquire nuclear weapons.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a refutation of the information published in the media that Ukraine can develop its own nuclear bomb if the United States reduces military aid. The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Tikhy, wrote about this on the evening of Wednesday, November 13, on the social network Kh.
“Ukraine is committed to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons; we do not possess, do not develop and do not intend to acquire nuclear weapons,” Tikhy wrote.
He also added that Ukraine closely cooperates with the IAEA and is fully transparent for its monitoring, which excludes the use of nuclear materials for military purposes.
Earlier, the Times, citing a memo prepared for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, reported that Ukraine could quickly create a major device from plutonium using technology similar to the Fat Man bomb that was dropped by Americans in Nagasaki in 1945.
Let’s remember that last month various media outlets already spread information about Ukraine’s alleged plan to create nuclear weapons, and the Foreign Ministry denied it.
Also, President Vladimir Zelensky, in a briefing with the NATO Secretary General, objected that Ukraine is preparing to create nuclear weapons.
