An agent of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate was detained by the SBU.
In Chernigov, he set fire to a military pickup truck and a transformer substation. He also adjusted Russian attacks on the northern region. For this purpose, he rented apartments with panoramic views of defense and civilian installations. The enemy was most interested in the repair bases of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and medical institutions where wounded soldiers were being treated. The SBU press center reported this on November 11.
The 45-year-old local unemployed man viewed these tasks as test missions. Then he planned to kill the military. The attacker himself admitted that he told the Russian curator that he was ready for the physical liquidation of Defense Forces soldiers.
For the assassination attempt, the agent planned to use improvised explosive devices or kamikaze drones.
The detainee’s mobile phone and computer, which he used to communicate with the Russian GRU, have already been confiscated. The management of the occupiers has already been informed of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law) and part 2 of Art. 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The man is now in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
