The payment of 1,000 hryvnia to each Ukrainian announced by President Vladimir Zelensky from December 1 of this year will use the remaining funds of the Compulsory State Social Insurance Fund, which were formed last year and were not used by the Ministry of Economy in 2024.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget Issues, Roksolana Podlasa, announced this in an interview with the Ukrainian edition of Forbes.
She recalled that at the beginning of 2024, the Unemployment Fund transferred UAH 10 billion of unused funds last year to the state budget special fund. They were supposed to be used to finance Ministry of Economy programs to support business this year.
However, of this amount, UAH 9.3 billion remained unused, Podlasa explained. According to her, it is from these funds that payments of “thousands from Zelensky” will be covered until the end of the year.
Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers planned to postpone the use of these funds to 2025.
