The suspect entered into agreements with enterprises controlled by the Lviv businessman for more than UAH 1.5 billion.
A former official of the Ministry of Defense, who reduced penalties for a Lviv businessman by almost UAH 94 million, was told on suspicion of abuse of official position. The Office of the Prosecutor General reports this on its Telegram channel.
The message does not mention the name of the “Lviv businessman,” but, judging by the description, we are talking about Igor Grinkevich.
The suspect entered into agreements with enterprises controlled by the Lviv businessman for more than UAH 1.5 billion. According to these agreements, businesses are required to provide military clothing to the Ministry of Defense on time. At that time, these enterprises did not yet have the production capacity to fulfill the terms of the contracts in a timely manner.
“To avoid accumulating large fines, the businessmen asked the suspect to list them and reduce them as much as possible, the official of the Ministry of Defense unjustly entered into additional agreements that extended the delivery of goods,” the report said.
The imposed penalties for overdue contracts were reduced from almost UAH 98 million to UAH 4.5 million, that is, by UAH 93.5 million.
Now the question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is decided.
We remind you that on December 29, 2023, Igor Grinkevich was detained by employees of the State Bureau of Investigation. He is one of the largest suppliers to the Ministry of Defense. In January, the department terminated its contracts with Grinkevich.
As you know, in July of this year, prosecutors brought another case against Igor Grinkevich to court. He tried to bribe one of the heads of the State Bureau of Investigation. The businessman offered the official a bribe of 500 thousand dollars.
