Moldovan President Maia Sandu responded to recent cases of Russian UAVs falling on the country’s territory.
She noted that “at the moment this does not pose a danger to the Republic of Moldova.” However, the very fact that foreign drones are flying in Moldovan airspace is a cause for concern. The corresponding statement was distributed by the MoldPres portal.
From the first day of the war, we did everything to protect the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, including procurement, to identify and prevent situations that pose a danger to citizens. Judging by reports from institutions, these drones do not pose a danger to citizens, but we continue to remain vigilant,” the president noted.
Let us remind you that the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on November 10, during a Russian attack, 10 drones left Ukrainian airspace, including in the direction of Moldova. After this, two drones were found in Moldova after an attack by the Russian Federation.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported that the UAVs found in Moldova do not have a warhead. They are much smaller and cheaper than the Shahed-136, but they mimic them in radar.
