The only way out of the current political crisis is by calling new parliamentary elections, the president believes.
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, believes that Georgia is entering a deep political crisis, which can be overcome through new parliamentary elections, and Europe can help it. He said this at a joint press conference with the heads of the parliamentary committees of the eight EU countries that arrived in Tbilisi on Monday, November 11.
“Georgia is entering a deep political crisis, our friends in Europe have come to us, and this is a good sign that Europe is not letting us out of its hands and that Europe believes in Georgia and the it’s human,” he said.
According to Zurabishvili, Georgia is a democratic country without democratic power.
“Georgia has a one-party rule that has taken over all the country’s institutions, and we got the result in one-party rigged elections,” the head of state added.
The President believes that the only way out of the current political crisis is by calling new parliamentary elections.
“It is necessary to hold new elections so that Georgia can receive a legitimate parliament, a legitimate government and a legitimate president when the time comes,” Zurabishvili said.
European MPs also said that the elections held in Georgia raised many questions about their legitimacy.
“The last election in Georgia was not free and fair. According to international and local observers, the secrecy of voting was not observed during the election, the voters were bribed, which raised many questions about the legitimacy of the this election,” said the parliamentary leader. committee on foreign affairs of the German Bundestag, Michael Roth.
He emphasized that it is necessary to conduct an independent investigation into the facts of the falsification of the parliamentary elections in Georgia.
Earlier, Roth spoke at an opposition rally in Tbilisi and actively supported it in the political struggle.
Several dozen Georgian oppositionists, in a sign of solidarity with President Zurabishvili and European representatives, gathered on November 11 near the presidential palace in Tbilisi. After the press conference, the oppositionists congratulated the European representatives.
Let us remind you that the opposition Georgian political forces said that they do not recognize the election results and expressed protests.
They said they will also boycott the new parliament so that it will not be given legitimacy.
Let’s add that the court of the city of Tetri-Tskaro (Georgia) canceled the results of the parliamentary elections in 30 polling stations due to violations.
