“Today (Sunday) evening, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke by phone with the newly elected US President Donald Trump and once again personally congratulated him on his election victory both discussed the relationship of German-American and current geopolitical challenges,” said Gebestreit.
He noted that Schelz expressed his readiness to continue the cooperation between the governments of both countries, which lasted for several decades.
“They also agreed to work together to restore peace in Europe,” the representative said, but did not specify the details of this point.
Earlier, Scholz said that there can be no negotiations on the war in Ukraine without Ukraine’s participation.
