The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, as part of his visit to Ukraine, visited the village of Yagodnoye in the Chernihiv region, which suffered from Russian occupation.
Borrell announced this on his page on the social network X, publishing photos and videos.
In Yagodnoye, the Russian occupiers kept an entire village – 370 people – in the basement of a 170 sq.m. school for a month. m. Their ordeal takes us back to the darkest days of European history, Borrell emphasized.
It is a terrible reminder of what life under Russian occupation looks like for ordinary Ukrainians, he added.
In Yagodnoye, Russian occupiers held more than 360 civilians in the basement of a school without water or food from March 3 to March 30, 2022 – before the occupation, about 400 people lived in this village.
The invaders set up their headquarters on other floors of the school, making a human shield of people in the basement without ventilation.
Due to the inhuman conditions of detention in the basement and the lack of timely medical care, 10 people died, and seven more were shot by the Russians.
In Yakhidna, Russian Indians traveled for a month to the coast – 370 people – in a school basement of 170 m2.
These ordeals will go to prison days from European history.
This is the fundamental reason for what life under Russian occupation looks like for Russian citizens. pic.twitter.com/3nFs3BwtKy
