The best time to pick mushrooms is in the morning, when the air is still fresh and the dew is on the grass. This is when the mushrooms are most noticeable.
Mushroom season continues in Ukraine. However, when going to the forest, you must follow important safety rules. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reminded about this on Saturday, November 9.
Law enforcement officials emphasized that the main condition for quiet hunting in Ukraine is safety. Therefore, before going to the forest, you should make sure that there is no ban on visiting forests in the region.
“The ban may exist due to the presence of explosive objects in the forest,” explained the Ministry of Interior. And they remembered the main recommendations for survival in the forest:
-
Check the weather forecast before traveling.
-
Wear bright clothes to be seen. Don’t forget to bring water and snacks.
-
Use a GPS or mechanical compass for local orientation.
-
Charge your phone and get a Power Bank for an extra charge.
-
Plan your route and explore the area: memorize roads, rivers, fields or other landmarks and tell your family about your plans.
-
Return at dusk to avoid trouble in the dark.
They added that if someone is lost and cannot find their way back, they should call the emergency services on 101, 102 or 112.
The main rule of a mushroom picker is not to take unknown mushrooms.
Let’s add that the best time for “quiet hunting” starts in August and lasts until November, but it depends on the weather: warm autumn rains and short nights create ideal conditions for growing mushrooms.
We remind you that in the Ternopil region of Chertkovsky district, eight children and one adult were poisoned by mushrooms.
It was previously reported that in the Volyn region, a 26-year-old pregnant woman was poisoned by mushrooms and lost her child.
