The United States will immediately send 500 interceptor missiles to Ukraine for the NASAMS and Patriot air defense systems. The missiles are expected to arrive soon.
The Wall Street Journal writes about this, citing a source in the administration of US President Joe Biden, reports Public.
It is noted that the missiles will be provided due to an increase in massive attacks by Russian drones on Ukraine. This assistance should meet the need to strengthen Ukrainian air defense by the end of this year.
Politco previously reported that the White House plans to send more than $6 billion in aid to Ukraine. before newly elected US President Donald Trump takes office in January 2025.
This is money left over from April’s $61 billion aid package to Ukraine. Of these:
- $4.3 billion can be used for assistance from US reserves;
- another 2.1 billion dollars. – for the purchase of weapons under contracts with American defense companies.
