Ukrainian military will be able to train in Europe for another two years.
The Council of the European Union has extended the mandate of the EU Mission in Support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) until November 15, 2026. Brussels has allocated another 409 million euros for this. This was reported in a press release by the EU Council.
It is noted that this European mission is aimed at strengthening the military potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thanks to EUMAM Ukraine, 63 thousand Ukrainian fighters were trained. Another 15 thousand fighters will be trained in the coming months.
As is known, EUMAM was created in October 2022 to assist in the training of Ukrainian military personnel. Members of the defense forces usually train in Germany and Poland. The mission cooperates with NATO and exchanges information with it.
EUMAM Ukraine is funded by the European Peace Fund. This fund was created in the EU as a mechanism to maintain peace and security in partner countries. It finances various operations, including military missions, equipment supplies and military training.
Let us remind you that on November 6, the ambassadors of the European Union decided to extend the EUMAM Ukraine military training mission to train the Ukrainian military. The media then stated that she would work for another two years.
