Finland has proposed to NATO to host a new military base on its territory – Helsinki could be a base for large NATO reconnaissance drones. This was reported by the Finnish media Yle.

The most likely location for a new base may be Pirkkala, although three alternative sites are being considered.

NATO drones are based in Italy and have been used in Finnish airspace to collect data on the eastern border.

Plans for a new base are at an early stage, but the alliance is actively looking to expand its drone presence in Northern Europe.

A final decision on the location of the base will be made next year.

We remind you that the Finnish prosecutor’s office charged the founder and former commander of the Rusich military group, Vojislav Torden (Jan Petrovsky), with committing war crimes in eastern Ukraine.
