Local residents posted footage of the sounds of the explosion and fire online. Authorities say the drones were “shot down.”
Residents of Saratov reported a fire in the area of the local oil refinery after the UAV attack. This was reported by Astra on Friday, November 8.
Several photos from the scene were also published, with some residents saying the refinery’s flare line was on fire. However, based on the footage, the flare stack is located to the right of the possible fire area. There is no confirmation of this information.
The Saratov oil refinery, formerly known as the Kreking plant in the Zavodskoy district of Saratov, is part of the Rosneft oil company.
Earlier the governor reported that a UAV was destroyed in the Saratov territory at night, and some of the debris fell in the industrial zone of the Zavodsky district.
Other public pages confirmed that Saratov and its suburbs were under attack by UAVs, adding that “air defense is working.” They also consider oil refineries a likely target for drones.
We remind you that three oil refineries in Russia have partially stopped work due to sanctions. The Russians did not complete the scheduled repairs in a timely manner.
