The Ukrainian Armed Forces used rare American ammunition in the Kursk region.

    .

Ukrainian defenders used a rare laser-guided M712 Copperhead projectile to attack a metal communications tower located east of Sudzha. Three such shells were used for the strike, they were launched from M777 howitzers. This became known from the “leaked” documentation of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, translated and distributed in Russian telegram channels. This was reported by Miliarny and Defense Express.

As you know, the M712 is a modified 155mm artillery shell developed in the United States in the 1970s as a laser-guided precision weapon.

The Copperhead is equipped with a conventional high-explosive or cumulative warhead to combat armored vehicles. It can be used with conventional 155 mm howitzers and has a firing range of three to 16 km.

Let us recall that Australia sent Ukraine JDAM-ER aerial bombs, previously in service with the Royal Australian Air Force. These 230 kg aerial bombs, manufactured in 2021, were previously withdrawn from service.
