The changes involve monitoring the moisture level in meat and banning low-quality dairy products.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has tightened the quality requirements for a number of food products supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, this applies to chicken meat, as well as fish and dairy products. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science on Wednesday, November 6.
“During inspections of food supplies for the needs of military personnel in military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, special cases were identified when suppliers deliver frozen chicken with excessive amount of moisture,” they recalled in the message.
In response to this, the Ministry of Defense established requirements regarding the mass fraction of moisture remaining after defrosting chicken meat, as well as the mass fraction of glaze in fish.
The department also banned the supply to the Ukrainian Armed Forces of dairy and fermented milk products that are not made from cow’s or sheep’s milk.
“We strive to provide our military personnel not only with sufficient quantities of food products, but also to guarantee their quality and safety is an important step towards increasing the standards of providing our military, ” said the Deputy Minister of Defense. Ukraine Dmitry Klimenkov.
We previously reported that the procurement agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the State Operator of Logistics (DOT), presented to potential suppliers, manufacturers and distributors a new model for supplying food to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will work as a pilot project in some regions of Ukraine in 2025.
It was also reported that the State Logistics Operator entered into agreements with suppliers to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with food in 13 sectors covering the whole of Ukraine.
Remind us that in Ukraine they are changing the approach to developing dry rations for military personnel, taking into account their religious, medical and ethical needs. The new dry rations will be available to military personnel from December 2024, once the range development and approval process is complete.
