In Transcarpathia, two more schemes for evading the mobilization of men of military age were discovered. The head of the district TCC and the deputy commander of the Teroborona brigade received suspicion.
According to materials from National Police investigators, both defendants acted separately, but used similar “schemes”: in exchange for bribes, they offered conscripts to avoid conscription on the basis of forged documents about “poor” health.
To achieve this, officials provided potential conscripts with fictitious medical reports from the VLK about the presence of serious illnesses, the SBU press service reported on November 6.
Subsequently, the evaders used the forgery to remove them from military registration and could illegally travel outside of Ukraine.
The cost of such services ranged from 4 thousand dollars per client.
Based on the evidence received, both officials are suspected (in accordance with the crimes committed) under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 3 Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or obtaining of undue benefit by an official);
- Part 3 Art. 369-2 (abuse of influence).
The investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The perpetrators face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
