In 14 counties in the key state of Pennsylvania, 4,300 votes of voters who voted from abroad in the US presidential election were appealed. This may affect the results.
The Associated Press writes about this.
The mass appeals target two main categories: people who cast their votes by mail without changing their voter registration, and voters living abroad who are not in the military.
The deadline to appeal the issuance of mail ballots was Friday, and those ballots can now not be included in the total vote count. They are to be seized for a hearing by the county board of elections, which is scheduled for November 8th.
Pennsylvania is a critical swing state that could be a deciding factor in the fight between Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump. Those 4,300 mail-in ballots could be enough to determine the winner in the state.
In addition, in the state of Georgia, five to seven polling places were notified of a bomb. Local authorities blame Russia.
State Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said the threats were “Russian in origin and not credible.”
The FBI also reported threats of bombing of polling stations in several states. According to them, the messages came from Russian email domains.
A man has been detained in Michigan for threatening to shoot if Donald Trump wins. Isaac Sissel, 25, of Ann Arbor, sent threats online claiming to have a stolen AR-15 rifle and a target.
I will kill conservative Christians if Trump wins the election. The FBI can’t do anything until I finish the attack,” he wrote.
On the morning of November 5, the man was detained by the FBI and will appear in federal court today.
Georgia is one of seven swing states whose voting results contribute the most to the overall election results.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the FBI and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency warned on the eve of the vote of increased attempts to influence the election, including in key states from Russia and Iran.
Iran and Russia are conducting additional influence operations aimed at undermining public confidence in the integrity of U.S. elections and stoking discord among Americans, the intelligence community said in a joint statement.
