The launch came days after North Korea raised tensions by firing an intercontinental ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan on Thursday.
North Korea launched an unidentified ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan. The Japanese Ministry of Defense announced this on Tuesday, November 5, NHK wrote.
“The incident occurred on the eve of the US presidential election,” the statement said.
The Japanese Coast Guard said the missile may have gone down around 07:55 local time.
Later, the Japanese Ministry of Defense clarified that the DPRK had launched at least seven missiles, the flight altitude of which was about 100 km, and the range was about 400 km.
North Korea occasionally launches various missiles into the East or Yellow Seas, where the warheads remain in the water. Japan and South Korea do not like this, which, together with the United States, are discussing action plans to contain the DPRK, so as not to be “under the gun” of Pyongyang.
Let’s recall that in January of this year, Japan launched a satellite to collect data on military facilities in the DPRK. It was launched into orbit by the H2A launch vehicle.
