In Moldova, the second round of presidential elections takes place on November 3, with pro-European President Maia Sandu and Alexander Stoianoglo, nominated by the pro-Russian Party of Socialists, competing. This was reported by European Truth.

Polling stations opened at 7 am local time and will close at 9 pm There are 2,219 sites operating in the country and abroad, of which 1,988 are on the territory of Moldova, and 231 are abroad.

As you know, in the first round Sandu received more than 42% of the votes, Stoianoglo – almost 26%.

Stoianoglo straddles the line between East and West, his rhetoric in stark contrast to Sandu’s policies in which Moldova cut ties with the Kremlin and supported Ukraine amid a massive Russian invasion.

Sandu said Stoianoglo is a man of the Kremlin, and his success threatens uncertainty and instability. Stoyanoglo accused Sandu of a policy of division in the country, where a large number of the population speaks Russian.

It was previously reported that several buses of Moldovans permanently residing in Russia were brought to Moldova to vote in the second round of presidential elections. Moreover, the trip is free for them.

We remind you that on the eve of the second round of presidential elections, citizens of Moldova began to receive anonymous messages with threats en masse.

The head of Moldova’s General Inspectorate of Police, Viorel Cerneutanu, previously said that Russia transferred nearly $40 million to Moldova to bribe voters in the presidential election.
