A storm was recorded in Finland for the first time in history

A new strong storm is coming to Finland on Sunday. He will move approximately the same route.

The first storm in the country’s history was recorded in western Finland. Due to the disaster, 40 thousand houses lost electricity, Yle television and radio company reported on Saturday, November 2.

So, in the city of Rauma, the average wind speed on Friday night reached 33.5 meters per second, in the city of Pore – up to 30.3 m/s. A hurricane in Finland is considered a wind whose average speed is at least 33 m/s.

According to meteorologist Matti Huutonen, this is the first time a real storm has been recorded in Finland.

Such indicators have never been recorded in the history of observations, in this sense it is truly rare, said Tuomo Bergman, another meteorologist at the Meteorological Institute.

As of Friday evening, around 40 thousand homes were without electricity in western and southern Finland. By Saturday morning, 17 thousand homes were left without power.

According to meteorologists, a new strong storm will arrive in Finland on Sunday. It will follow roughly the same route, so there is a possibility of a repeat storm.
